The jacket vest and pants pictured here are all made from second hand modern clothing. It is often possible to save money and time by reusing modern clothes. This is true for everyone from the most skilled to novice costumers. It is generally easier to do with men's clothing than women's and easier the more recent the era. I often encourage people to take this route since building an authentic costume is a major undertaking from research to execution. Although the suit coat lacks the proper dropped shoulder seam, by re blocking the roll line, shaping the front of the jacket, adding a third button hole and changing the buttons the results are very handsome. The pants were done by purchasing a pair that were too large and too long, and then letting down the hem, reshaping the crotch and adding suspender buttons.
