Man's 1840s Frock Coat
Man's 1840s Frock Coat
This is a frock coat, vest and fall front trousers that I made for my husband. It was such a busy year for us that I had some help on this one. My tailoring is not a rapid as my dress making. I diverged from authenticity in making this garment because it was made to be worn dancing so lighter construction and materials were used than would have been typical. The Frock coat is made from a two tone summer weight wool with a velvet collar and velvet covered buttons. The pants are made from the same light weight wool in a uneven check on mustard colored ground. Fall fronts trousers are little more challenging than fly fronts but it is a worth while period detail.
