Godzilla
Our son wanted to be Godzilla for Halloween! We love our little guy and he sure knows how to work his mom's costume buttons. I was lucky enough to find some light weight brown lizard print at the fabric store. I was also lucky because my uncle had just given me a package of ping pong balls. At the time I was thinking, "What do I need these for?" But I did! The tail and 3 rows of spines are all made with soft foam so they flex but hold their shape. If you have ever worn foam over large parts of your body, you know it dosnt breath and is very uncomfortable so didnt want to use it for the body. Instead I used hooping wire. The head is also carved out of a block of foam into which I set two ping pong eyeballs. I purchased two small LED party lights and placed them into the ping pong eyeballs so Godzilla's eyes glowed just like in the movies. The other recycled part of this costume were the shoes. Our son has recently worn though some shoes so I painted them brown and added a black reptile pattern to match the fabric. The over all effect was remarkable. Dad added a portable MP3 player and switch so that he could broadcast Godzilla's roar when ever he wanted.
