Regency Waistcoat
This vest is made in the Regency style with its large rolling lapels and is fully tailored with pad stitching and canvas inside. Its made from a light green linen with blue stripes and the back is made from a tan linen blend. It has two welt pockets and the front buttons up with five silver vintage lion buttons with gold rope edge. Waistcoats from this period buttoned up very high and only allowed room for the cravat to show. The cravat is made from a purple silk with delicate rolled edges. The shirt started out as an off the rack shirt. I took off the collar and played around with different samples until I had something that looked just like the shirt that Baptiste Debureau played by Jean-Louis Barrault in the 1945 film "Children of Paradise." See also entry for the accompanying Gentleman's Frock Suit.
