Bedouin Costume
I made this costume for a friend to wear to a Persian Nights event. The under robe is made from a rayon linen blend and the over robe is made from an acrylic boucle. The under robe is fairly rustic but the over robe was designed to be more aristocratic in style with the gold and deep green trim. The trim was originally a emerald green but I died it a darker green to give it a more mysterious quality and let the gold take the visual lead. The front placket on the under robe is corded and embroidered in the manner that my research materials showed. The under robe is made from several long slightly shaped panels sewn together with a yoke piece over the top edge. The edge of the yoke is also machine embroidered as are the edges of the pocket openings. Much of the research I did online was of limited use. Many sources had modern garments made of polyester with glitzy embroideries. If anyone who runs across this would like to educate me please feel free to email me. I tried to duplicate the appearance as best as I was able based on the research I did.
