Like many women I am on a quest for the perfect undergarments. I have perfected the hoop, fashion corset and I now believe I have perfected the chemise. One day my nice chemise was in the laundry so I wore a bias camisole. I noticed that it seemed considerably more comfortable under my corset than any knit or straight grained chemises I had worn. Eureka! Bias, although not period is a wonderful way cut down on the extra folds of fabric up under your corset leaving you with fewer itchy marks. This chemise is white cotton with a draw string neckline and short raglan sleeves so that it can be worn with a number of different necklines. It has a several tucks in the skirt which are both decorative and functional. Only the mid section is bias so that when the corset is on its perfectly period. Finished with lace at the bottom and shell buttons. The pictured chemise was made for the San Francisco Opera's Merola Program and was worn by Tisbe in Cenerentola for the 2007 Season.
