The Blue Rose

The Blue Rose

This is a long line corset very similar to the cut of Dark Garden's long line corsets. The cut is not terribly period but produces the correct shape, supports the bust and trim the waist in a very flattering manner. The project arose from the fact that the lady had to have blue roses on a black ground. I hit numerous fabric stores myself and I know she made many trips all over trying to find such a fabric. After I figured we had waisted a several days between the two of us looking for a fabric that should have been easy to find, I decided I would embroider the blue roses myself if that was what it was going to take. After we fit the coutile, I thread marked out the panels on the fabric and then hoop and embroidered each rose before cutting the panels out. Once the fabric was embroidered I was able to make only very minor adjustments so it was critical to know the exact placement and angle of each rose before I started. I redid two of the panels because I was not satisfied with the results, but beyond that it went very smoothly. The corset includes a nylon waist tape, steel bones, busk and black eyelets with washers. All seams are triple stitched and the nylon waist tape is continuous from eyelets to busk. Its truly a beautiful corset and Im thrilled to have made it.
